Hippophae was widely used in ancient years although in modern Greece it has become popular in the last few years. The Greeks, Chinese and Hindus considered hippophae to be a medicine to a wide variety of diseases.

For Greece, it is a relatively new entry in farmers’ crops as it was introduced in our country in 2009.

Hippophae is one of the few species of plants whose parts can all be used for different reasons: the fruit, the leaves, the bark, the stems, the seeds, the wood as well as its roots. The fruit of hippophae is edible and really nutritious although it is sour, oily and unpleasant to eat raw apart from cases when it is left to over-mature (freeze in order to reduce sourness) or/and blended with sweeter juice (like that of apple or grape etc.)
